Sara Burnett, LCSW

Northern Colorado Director of Operations

Sara has been a steady, compassionate, and reliable leader at Sample Supports since 2016, growing from a Direct Care Professional to a seasoned Director of Operations for Northern Colorado. With a Master’s in Social Work from Colorado State University and a Bachelor’s degree centered on Psychology, Sociology, and Disability & Human Development, Sara brings both deep clinical understanding and hands-on experience to her work supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Over the years, Sara has built her leadership style around one core belief: people grow best when they feel supported, challenged, and encouraged. What she loves most about leadership is seeing team members step into their strengths – gaining confidence, building new skills, and realizing just how capable they are. She leads by example, modeling professionalism, calm problem-solving, and a genuine love for the work, all while keeping the day-to-day fun, grounded, and connected.

In her current role, Sara manages community-based placements, supports host home providers, and ensures the health, safety, and stability of the individuals in her region. She is known for her reliability, her ability to navigate crisis situations with clarity, and her deep commitment to high-quality care.

Sara shares more about her background, values, and journey in a Voyage Denver interview, offering a deeper look into the passion and purpose that drive her leadership.

With nine years at Sample Supports, Sara has become a trusted leader who balances expertise with warmth, structure with humanity, and accountability with joy—helping her team and the people they serve thrive every day.
